Department of Economics of ERIICTA has been officially established in August 2005 as a separate department. Currently the Department has its office (room N 306), equipment and a small library. The staff of the Department has been formed in August 2005 as well. Currently Department of Economics has 30 lecturers, 28 of whom work part-time and 2 lecturers work full-time. ERIICTA tried to attract leading lecturers and scientists of this field who wok in Armenia. Thus, 28 of department’s lecturers have Ph.D. degree, other have MBA or MS degree (received at foreign universities and the American University of Armenia).
As a newly established structure, the Department currently is engaged in huge organizational, educational, scientific and practical activities. The Economics is considered to be one of major subjects taught at ERIICTA (establishment of the department was conditioned by this fact), and currently the work of Department takes place in following directions:
- Development of curricular for Economics and other subjects, complying with European educational standards. The subjects are taught at different levels, for specialized and not specialized groups.
- Development of criteria for evaluation of students’ knowledge (the grade system)
- Organization of additional seminars and consultations for the students, as well as organization of scientific conferences. Thus, the Students’ Scientific Association was established at the Department of Economics which primary goal is to enhance and promote researches on economic subjects among students. The first academic conference is scheduled for spring 2006. This union currently establishes contacts with similar structures of other higher educational institutions to form efficient cooperation.
- Research work implemented by teaching staff, including work on their dissertations, publishing of articles, participation in research projects and conferences/seminars (domestic and international). For more details see Work Plan of the Department.
All these have been organized to ensure effective educational process, for our students to receive relevant knowledge on economic subjects.
Mrs. Julietta Tadevosyan, Ph.D. is Head of Department of Economics. Mrs. Tadevosyan has academic experience of about 30 years at Yerevan State Institute of Economics. She also worked in French educational system (Paris – 12 University Branch in Armenia, then at French University of Armenia). Mrs. Tadevosyan has academic and teaching experience at universities of France. She teaches Economics and International Economics for Bachelor and Master’s degree students. Mrs. Tadevosyan has numerous publications, her scientific interest relates to the field of international transfer of technologies. Married, has two daughters.
